Project for Residual Illiterates ( PRI )
A project for residual illiterates is being implemented in 10 districts of Rajasthan with low female literacy level: Bundi, Bhilwara, Banswara, Chittorgarh, Jalore, Jaisalmer, Pali, Rajsamand, Sirohi and Tonk. Emphasis is being laid to literate the residual illiterates by adopting a specific strategy.
Additional literacy centers have been established in remote and desert areas to make the people literate along the support of volunteers, motivators, anganwari workers, assistant prerak and students of classes IX & XI. About 791520 illiterates have been registered under the project in the 10 districts (out of 150 low literacy rate districts in India). Tracking of each neo-literate/ illiterate is ensured by preparing a database. Two-Third of the total budget for the programme is granted by Government of India and the remaining by the State Government. The number of illiterates in the 10 districts are as follows:

Special Literacy Camps for Illiterate Women:

To eradicate the illiteracy among women, special camps are organised in those 23 districts where women literacy is below the state’s average female literacy rate. Lectures, related to health and hygiene, food & nutrition, home management, child care, agriculture and family welfare are arranged, aiming to increase the general awareness of the women participants.
There has been an unprecedented success in the women literacy camps organized for 3 weeks.
Till now more than 8.01 lac women have been benefited by organizing
32149 camps.
In current financial year 1875 female literacy camps will be organised, making the women literate in the period of
21 days.
