NewsletterAakharjot is a quarterly magazine published by the Department for promoting Literacy and Continuing Education Programme in Rajasthan. Aakharjot is quite popular among the 'Preraks' working in the CECs. All the functionaries, concerned with this literacy programme get the opportunity to express their views and innovative ideas through the regular publication of this magazine. Various innovative activities initiated in the districts are published in Aakharjot, so each and every individual residing in the remote areas of the state may get information regarding the Literacy programme.

In order to spread awareness about the innovative projects and achievements of the department as well as their vision to succeed in their endeavour, the Directorate has introduced a newsletter, 'Aakhar Jot'. The first issue of the newsletter was launched on 28 September 2007, on the occasion of prize distribution ceremony for the literacy functionaries, in Jaipur by his Excellency, the Governor of Rajasthan.

The newsletter, 'Aakhar Jot', will inform the people within and outside the state, about the recent activities, requirements of various fields, aspirations and expectations of the Directorate of Literacy and Continuing Education. This will help in gaining support and channelising funds from the eminent and non-resident Rajasthanis to the Diretorate for spreading literacy in the state.

Films are regularly made on the various activities, success stories and achievements of the Literacy and Continuing Education Programme. The film "Wings of Wisdom" was screened during the 'UNESCO Confucius Awards' Ceremony in China in 2006. Some of the other films made by the department are:

  • For spreading awareness regarding the Literacy Programme and to ensure maximum public participation, the programme is being promoted in the print and electronic media through advertisement and press releases.
  • Preparation and regular updation of Literacy and Continuing Education Programme website.
  • The departmental films are regularly telecast on Doordarshan.
  • Informative brochures, folders and other materials covering various programme under Literacy and Continuing Education are being published and distributed.
