Innovative InitiativesFuture Oriented Programmes
Department of Literacy, Rajasthan is constantly working towards the attainment of its goals and development of new plans, to bring out the illiterates into the literacy net. The various innovative and valuable initiations taken up in the field of literacy by the center have been recognized globally.

The notable innovative initiatives taken up by the department are: 
  • In desert and remote areas of the state, mobile CECs are working using ‘Camel Cart’ to ensure maximum participation of all the sections of the society.
  • For nomadic community and backward tribes of the state, a scheme 
     ‘Jhola Pustakalaya’
    has been launched in remote areas in order to provide facility of reading and learning for all.
  • The Centers serve as a medium to organise training and activities related to social issues such as hand pump repairing, nursery development, blood donation camps, distribution of medicines, etc. to make centers more meaningful and relevant.
  • The functionaries of the centre actively participate in various programmes such as the prevention of blindness, save water campaign, pulse polio and rural sanitation programme.
  • CECs are not only functioning to impart literacy skills but also as life long learning centres.
  • Through CECs women are given training for ‘karate’ and taxi & tractor driving.
  • CECs gather books from the general public for the libraries through the campaign ‘Phustakdaan Maha Abhiyan’.
  • CECs, with the help of its motivators, organise the ‘Nirmal Gram Yojna’ in the various districts.
  • Sri Ganganagar district has taken an initiative to start literacy classes in Jail for the illiterate people residing in Jail. The State Government has decided to start literacy classes in the district jails with the help of ZSS.

Besides these novel projects, some special schemes have been undertaken for the betterment of deprived sections of the society, such as the Jogi’s, Kalwelia’s, Gariya’s, Luhar’s, Rebari’s and have been sent for approval to the Government of India.
